An Ajax man face stunt driving charges after allegedly travelling 145 km/h on Highway 40 in St. Clair Township.
Lambton OPP officials say in Friday May 5th, Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting stationary RADAR enforcement in the area of 40 Highway, north of Petrolia Line, in St. Clair Township.
Police allege that just before 8:30 p.m., officers observed a northbound motor vehicle approaching at what appeared to be a high rate of speed.
The officer activated the RADAR and registered a speed of no less than 145 kilometres per hour in a posted 80 kilometer per hour zone.
OPP conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the male driver of the motor vehicle.
As a result, Lambton OPP has charged a 28-year-old Ajax man with Race a Motor Vehicle.
The accused drivers licence was seized and motor vehicle was impounded for seven days as per provincial statute.
The accused will appear in the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Friday June 9th, 2017.
OPP officials say driving 50 or more kilometers per hour over the posted speed limit is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving.
The OPP supports this and any other legislation aimed at saving lives and taking drivers who engage in high-risk behaviour off the road.
