Suspect threatens to kill officer in Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg man faces multiple charges stemming from an incident on Tuesday morning.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say yesterday morning shortly before 8 a.m. officers responded to the man allegedly causing a disturbance at 800 Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

Police allege when they arrived, they saw him throwing furniture out the window of his unit.

As officers tried to speak with the man through a window, he allegedly tore out the window screen and threw it out onto the lawn as well.

Once officers were able to get him outside of the apartment complex, he began throwing rocks at the neighbour’s windows, causing them to break.

Through investigation, police also learned that the man had damaged the drywall within his own unit.

Total damage is estimated at $2,000.

As he was being arrested for these offences, the man allegedly threatened to kill the officer.

The 43-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with two counts of mischief under $5,000 and utter threats.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
