‘Large blunt object’ used during assault

A Chatham man faces aggravated assault charges following an alleged incident on Saturday.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on June 3, a 37-year-old Chatham man was admitted to Public General Hospital with serious facial injuries after allegedly being assaulted.

Officers arrived and determined the man had been assaulted by another male using a large blunt object.

Police officials say the alleged assault took place at approximately 5 a.m. in the city of Chatham.

Witnesses were able to identify a suspect and a 32-year0old Chatham man was arrested for aggravated assault and held pending a bail hearing.

The victim was transported to London due to the serious nature of his injuries.
