Robbery in downtown Port Lambton

A Sarnia man is facing charges after a robbery at the Shaykin’ Bait Variety & Bakery in downtown Port Lambton.

Lambton OPP officials say on Sunday June 11 the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a commercial address just before 7 p.m. on St. Clair Parkway in St. Clair Township, regarding a reported robbery.

Upon arrival, police were informed that an unknown male suspect entered the property and demanded cash from the register.

The suspect then allegedly stole an amount of cash from the register and fled the scene traveling northbound on St. Clair Parkway on a motorcycle.

During the investigation, OPP received information on the possible identity of the suspect.

Acting on this information, OPP attended an address in the 900 block of Confederation Line in Sarnia where a male party was consequently arrested.

A 32-year-old Sarnia man has been charged with robbery with theft.

No injuries were reported by any involved parties and no weapons were used in the commission of this offence.

The accused is being held for a bail hearing at the Sarnia Ontario Court of Justice on Monday, June 12th, 2017.
