The Wallaceburg & District Chamber of Commerce and Municipality of Chatham-Kent have designated DVS Farms Ltd. as the first “Feature Industry” for 2017.

“I understand the importance of team work – most of what I have done has come from having the support of my wife and family, followed by my dedicated staff, great neighbours and much determination. I strive from not losing sight of my goals even when a failure has been the outcome,” says Dave VanSegbrook, President of DVS Farms Ltd.

DVS Farms Ltd. is a privately held company in Tupperville, ON and is a single location business which was established in 1982.

DVS Farms Ltd. is a producer of Brussels sprouts, peppers, sugar beets, tomatoes and grain and a large supplier to the food processing industry.

VanSegbrook has also been honoured with Agricultural Innovator of the Year- Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce 2012, Ontario Premier’s Award for Agricultural Innovation Regional Award 2010 and Alumni Humanitarian Award – Ridgetown 2007.

Furthermore, VanSegbrook coaches and sponsors a house league soccer team in Wallaceburg, regularly donates to Outreach for Hunger Chatham and has also supported the literacy organization ‘Frontier College’.

Presenting this award presentation were Economic Development Officer, Kim Cooper, Councillor Leon Leclair, Coun. Carmen McGregor, Coun. David VanDamme, Coun. Joe Faas and President of the Wallaceburg Chamber, Karen Debergh.

The donation comes from the successful Progressive Ford Drive 4 UR Community event held earlier this spring.

The Kinsmen and Fireworks Festival committee partnered in the fundraiser.

The Canada Day Festival kicks off at 3pm in Wallaceburg’s Kinsmen Park.

Students donate to Hospice

Two groups of students at Monsignor Uyen Catholic School are giving back in creative ways.

In June, students from Madam Comartin’s Grade 4 class organized a school-wide bake sale.

The tasty treats raised over $200.

In addition, grade 6 & 7 students Evan, Nathan, Cristiano and Jere selected Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation as the recipient of the proceeds from their Learning Partnership Entrepreneurial Adventure business project and raised $200.

They create c.e.n.j. Clothing and sold t-shirts, caps, and drawstring bags with their company name on them.

The donations will be used towards ongoing operational expenses so we can continue to offer compassionate, end-of-
life hospice care at no cost to residents and their families.
