Wallaceburg Canada 150 Celebration held (Photos)

The Wallaceburg Canada 150 Celebration was held on Saturday.

Some storms rolling through during the afternoon slowed down the start of event, but it turned into a beautiful, sunshine-filled day for the annual festivities.

“What a great day,” said Wallaceburg Coun. Carmen McGregor, during a welcoming speech on behalf of the Mayor and Chatham-Kent council.

“There some amazing things going on across Chatham-Kent, but nothing is going to be better than what is going on in this park today. These guys are a team and the committee that have put this together have gone all out and the fireworks that you are going to see tonight are going to be better than anything that I think we have seen yet from Wallaceburg.”

McGregor added: “Thank you to the committee for all of their hard work with everything that is going on here. I hope all the families have a great and safe time. The kids take advantage of the tents and the blow ups.”

Argyle Avenue was the place the be in Wallaceburg for the event. along with the back field of A.A. Wright Public School.

There was a variety of children’s activities, including bouncy castles, glitter tattoos and face painting.

Various vendors were on site, the ‘Large Marge’ eating contest was held, Alyssa Doherty provided her ‘Princess Party’ entertainment, and local bands Three’s a Crowd, Bed By Nine and Vinyl Revival provided musical entertainment throughout the event.

The celebration was wrapped up with a massive fireworks display as well.
