Wanted man eventually arrested in Wallaceburg

A Chatham-Kent man faces multiple charges after eventually being arrested in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on June 8, a man was released from custody for the offences of obstruct a peace officer and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

His release conditions were to reside at a certain residence in Ridgetown, remain inside that residence between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. daily and to notify the Chatham-Kent Police Service if he were to move from that residence.

On June 29, at approximately 12:10 a.m. officers attended that residence in Ridgetown and the man allegedly was not present.

Through further investigation, police learned the man was not allegedly living there as he was supposed to be.

Due to the man’s whereabouts being unknown, a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Yesterday morning at 9:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg observed the man walking in a west bound direction on Margaret Avenue.

Police officials say when the officer attempted to stop him, the man allegedly ran away and a foot pursuit began.

The officer caught the man and arrested him on the warrant.

The 30-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with two counts of failing to comply.

A search of him was conducted incident to arrest and drugs were found.

Therefore, he was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
