Youth charged with impaired driving in Wallaceburg

A youth is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say early Saturday morning at approximately 2:30 a.m., police received a call about a vehicle believed to be driven by an impaired driver on Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Officers quickly located the vehicle and stopped it to conduct an investigation.

The officer made a demand for the driver to provide a sample of his breath into a roadside breath testing unit.

Police allege that the driver complied and registered a fail indicating that he had a blood alcohol content (BAC) in excess of 80mgs of alcohol in 100 mLs of blood.

The officer arrested the male and transported him to Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters for further breath tests.

The tests revealed that the male’s BAC was allegedly more than twice the legal limit.

The youth was charged with operate a motor vehicle in excess of 80 mgs and released with a future court date of July 17, 2017.
