A Dover man faces impaired driving charges, after being stopped in Wallaceburg on Monday.

In January 2011, December 2012 and May 2011, a man was convicted in Chatham for driving while disqualified.

As a result of the three separate convictions, police say he was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle in Canada.

With a description of the vehicle, an officer was able to locate the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop on Dufferin Avenue and Lorne Avenue.

police officials allege the officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters for breath tests.

The 59-year-old Dover Centre man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank the citizens of Chatham-Kent for helping make our community a safe one for everyone to enjoy.
