‘Awesome weekend’ at Dresden Exhibition (Photos)

Organizers are thrilled with the outcome of the 142nd annual Dresden Exhibition this past weekend.

Lucille Laprise, president of the Dresden Agricultural Society, said the entire event went great.

“We had great attendance for all the events that we had,” Laprise told the Sydenham Current.

“It was an awesome weekend. We were blessed with good weather. Everybody enjoyed the whole weekend. The baby show, the teddy bears, horses, cattle and the rabbit shows, all of those events increased entry. Of course we had harness racing on the Sunday and that was a great day also. So all in all, it was an awesome weekend.”

Laprise said the two-day tractor pull was one of the highlights.

“We have never had a two-day tractor pull before and that turned out really well,” she said.

“So that was good but all-in-all just to see the people. They were so happy.”

Laprise said they were happy to have a midway back at the fair, after not having one in place last year.

“We had Robertson Midway and they had great rides that everybody enjoyed,” she said.

“People were going on rides and enjoying themselves. It was so nice to see the families there and just everywhere you went people were happy.”

Laprise said the entire committee was impressed by the seven contestants in the Ambassador competition, especially the winner, Tylene Gall (read more here.)

“Tylene is a pleasure to have as our Ambassador, that is for sure,” Laprise said.

“All seven contestants, each and every one of them were wonderful. We would have been pleased with any one of them. Tylene, our new Fair Ambassador, yes we are quite pleased with her. She is pleasant, she is personable, she is friendly and outgoing. She is going to do us proud.”

Laprise said their group are thankful for everyone who came out and supported the annual Dresden fair.

“we had great weather. We want to thank everybody who came, supported us and came and enjoyed themselves,” she said.

“It was just an awesome weekend overall. We were just truly blessed with a great Dresden Exhibition 2017.”
