Update: 2nd crime spree suspect arrested in Wallaceburg

The second suspect in a crime spree, which resulted in multiple incidents across Chatham-Kent, has been arrested in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Polce Service officials say yYesterday at 1:22 p.m. the other man involved in the previously reported incidents attended D.S. Walker Jewellers, located at 77 Margaret Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Police say he attended this business in an attempt to receive an appraisal of the alleged stolen jewellery he had in his possession.

The various pieces of jewellery was valued at approximately $4,000.

Due to the employees’ suspicions, police were called.

At 1:31 p.m. the 31-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested charged with possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

As he was being searched incident to arrest, drugs were allegedly located on him.

Therefore, he was also charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Through further investigation, police learned of his involvement with the incidents that occurred on July 28, 2017.

Thus, he was additionally arrested and charged with the following:

– Theft Under $5,000

– Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime Under $5,000 x 2

– Break and Enter Commit Theft Over $5,000

– Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime Over $5,000

The man was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he has been held for a bail hearing.
