Disassembled shotgun seized in Wallaceburg

A man faces charges after a disassembled shot gun was seized in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say last night just after 8 p.m. an officer on general patrol on Johnson Street in Wallaceburg observed a man riding a bicycle with no light and a flat tire.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on Johnson Street at Hiram Street.

Through investigation it was learned the man was allegedly carrying a disassembled shotgun within his backpack.

In addition, the man does not have a firearms possession license.

A 19-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with the following offences:

– Unauthorized possession of a firearm

– Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized

– Weapons trafficking

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where he was later released with a court date of October 11, 2017.
