Golden swim meet for Madison Broad

Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad had a golden weekend at the Swim International meet held in Brantford on the weekend.

Broad came home with five gold medals after the meet, which ran from November 10 to 12

She captured gold in the 50 metre backstroke, the 100 metre backstroke, the 200 metre backstroke, the 200 metre freestyle, and the 200 metre IM.

Broad had a best best time of 2:05.23 in preliminary race in the 200 metre freestyle.

She also captured a bronze medal in the 100 metre fly, with a new best time of 1:05.95

Broad also placed 4th in the 50 metre breaststroke.

The 17-year-old has also been chosen for the Swim Canada Tour Team, and will be traveling to Austin, Texas for the Grand Prix meet.

It will be held from January 12 to January 14.

The Chatham Y Pool Sharks swimmer will be training in Toronto prior to the Grand Prix at the Pan Am Sports Center.

Other members of the Tour Team include Canadian Olymians Penny Oleksiak and Kylie Masse.
