Arrests have been made and multiple charges have been laid after a crime spree last week in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say on Friday, November 24, at approximately 4:30 a.m. a 22-year-old Wallaceburg man allegedly attended Wallaceburg Dental, located at 1231 Dufferin Avenue, and attempted to gain access through a rear door.

An alarm sounded and he fled on foot, police say.

Access was not gained and no damage was sustained to the door.

Later the same morning at approximately 5 a.m., the same 22-year-old man allegedly attended 320 Blake Street and entered two vehicles that were parked within the driveway of the residence.

After rummaging through both vehicles, the man allegedly started a fire in each vehicle.

A Dodge Caravan sustained approximately $2,000 damage due to the fire.

The other vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder, did not burn and no damage was sustained, police say.

Fast forward to 6:15 a.m., the same Wallaceburg man allegedly entered a residence on Book Street through an unlocked window.

Police allege that he fled the area when the homeowners awoke to find him in their house and police were called.

Through investigation, police learned who was responsible for all of the above offences.

Officers located the 22-year-old man at his residence in Wallaceburg where he and another man, a 20-year-old from Wallaceburg, were allegedly in possession of stolen property from the vehicles on Blake St. and items from the residence on Book St.

As a result, the 22-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with the following:

– Arson x 2

– Theft Under $5,000

– Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime under $5,000 x 2

– Break and Enter x 2

The 20-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with the following:

– Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime under $5,000

Police say both were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters where they were held in custody.
