Cross Country Trailers out of Blenheim has been purchased by a Mattawa, Ontario company.

Gin-Cor Industries made the announcement via a press release on Thursday.

“We see tremendous opportunity in this facility and the workforce made up of people from a great community,” stated Luc Stang, president and CEO for Gincor.

“We plan to maintain jobs, invest in the site, and to actually increase the workforce as we bring Cross Country into the Gin-Cor Group family.”

Stang added: “We will be reaching out to community partners and letting them know that we see great potential here.”

Company officials say they began with a single facility 40 years ago in the town of Mattawa, Ontario, around 40 minutes outside of North Bay.

The company is known for vocational vehicles like dump vehicles, snow plows and other severe service equipment like cranes and pup trailers.

“We know there has been some uncertainty for the community, and we look forward to moving ahead together and creating a new success story for the men and women that make up the team here,” Stand said.

Gin-Cor has been ranked as one of Canada’s Fastest Growing Companies three years in a row with Profit 500.

In 2017, the company jumped 171 spots on the list and sits at 199th place.

Staff numbers have grown from 40 people to almost 500 with the inclusion of the Blenheim location.

In June of 2017, the company formed a strategic partnership and acquired DEL Equipment, which added
7 new locations and gives the company coast-to-coast presence from Moncton, New Brunswick to Vancouver, British Columbia.

In a move to update their branding, the company will be known as Gin-Cor Truck and Trailer Werx.

This news coincides with a separate announcement made by the Municipality on Friday.

One of North America’s foremost advanced technology suppliers to the automotive industry has announced plans to build a $6 million facility on nearly five acres in the Bloomfield Business Park in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent officials say IATGlobal plans to begin immediate construction on the 47,000 square foot facility which is expected to be completed by summer of 2018.
