Lakers hire Paxton as head coach

The Wallaceburg Lakers have hired a new bench boss once again.

“The Wallaceburg Lakers are excited to announce they have hired Ryan Paxton as their head coach,” Ritch Kanally, general manager for the Lakers, told the Sydenham Current.

“Ryan has junior coaching experience with the Dresden Kings and the Wallaceburg Lakers. He brings with him Shawn Simpson who has junior experience as well with the Lakers last season. We are looking forward to a strong last half of the season.”

Paxton will become the fourth head coach for the Lakers this season alone.

Rick Vancoillie was let go after eight games, John Hartig stepped down after 11 games and Kanally has been serving double duty with the club as head coach and general manager, after Hartig quit.

Wallaceburg has a 2-23-0-0 record on the season, last in the West Stobbs Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
