Two fall through the ice in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent Police Service and Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services attended in the area of 65 Riverview Drive in Chatham in response to reports of two people that had fallen through the ice on the Thames River on the weekend.

Police officials say officers located the two parties involved, after the people had extracted themselves from the ice.

Police say they were not injured.

EMS attended the scene, however no treatment was required, police officials say.

The incidents sparked a warning from the Chatham-Kent Police Service earlier this week.

“Please do not walk on frozen rivers or lakes in our area as the ice is thin and the waters are deep,” police officials stated in a press release.
