While firefighters in Wallaceburg were busy battling a blaze at the Tom and Al’s warehouse on Saturday morning, their colleagues were fighting a fire in Chatham at the same time.

Bob Davidson, assistant fire chief, says the call came in at 8:18 a.m. for a house fire at 115 West Street in Chatham.

“Firefighters arrived to find a working fire,” Davidson said in a press release.

“One female was transported to hospital with smoke inhalation. Exposed occupancies on either side of the involved structure were protected.”

Davidson says the cause is under investigation.

An estimated $150,000 damage was caused, while $450,000 worth of property was saved, Davidson says.

“The fire is still ongoing,” he says.

“The cause will be listed as under investigation at this time.”
