The Wallaceburg Lakers midget boys hockey team captured the International Silver Stick Midget ‘B’ championship in Petrolia on the weekend.

Wallaceburg played five games enroute to the championship.

They started out with a loss to Petrolia 4-1, and followed it up with a 9-1 win over Kent and a 6-1 over Ilderton to qualify for the semi-finals.

The Lakers again faced Ilderton and won that game 4-0.

This put Wallaceburg in in the finals for a rematch with Petrolia, who had not lost a game all season.

The coaching staff says the boys played the “best game of their lives” and came out on top, 3-0.

Team members, include: Ethan Cadotte, Carter Benedict, Hunter Fisher, Brody Genyn, Troy Mcfadden-Mcrae, Jaycob White, Nash Labonte, Tyler Davis, Matt Gorry, Mason Vandellen, Tanner Cole, Noah King, Kellen Franquist, Matt Reidl, Brodie Mahoney, Stone Jacobs, Kyle Toulouse, Jaelen Gittens, and Carter White.
