Tartans lose heartbreaker in LKSSAA girls hockey final

The Wallaceburg Tartans senior girls hockey team came up just short in overtime in the LKSSAA championship game on Thursday.

The LCCVI Lancers won a close game by a 2-1 score .

“So proud of this group of girls,” coach Tom Peel said on social media.

“Dominated the entire LKSSAA championship game and lost with 12 seconds left in OT. Pride for their talents but more for their display of courage and class in defeat. Future looks bright for Tartan girl’s hockey. They will have another chance.”

Ryan Ebere also coached the team.

The final was played at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

Wallaceburg beat NLSS in the semi-finals 5-1 to pave their way into the final.

In eight games in the regular season, the Tartans finished with a 5-3 record.
