Loving the ‘small town’ lifestyle

It keeps happening.

The little things that make me so glad to live in a small town.

Not long ago, I got a text from a friend, asking me if I was okay.

She’d seen my car parked at the local hospital, and just wanted to make sure that nothing was wrong. Wow.

A few days later, I was at a local store, and didn’t have enough cash to pay for my purchase (and had forgotten my debit card). The owner said “Don’t worry about it, bring the difference in the next time you’re in”. Wow.

I grew up in the big city, and simply can’t believe the difference between the life in the city, and the life in a small town.

Here, you’re more likely to be greeted on the street by someone you don’t know. I like that.

Here, people can be relied on to help out with just about anything, even if you don’t know them. I like that, too.

Here, you can drive the country roads on the edge of town, and it would be VERY unusual to not get a wave and a smile from an oncoming vehicle. I REALLY like that.

I think that the biggest difference, though, is in the pace of life.

It’s nice to live where a “traffic jam” is a 10-second wait to make a turn.

It’s nice to live where the term “rush hour” is just a distant laugh.

It’s nice to live where driving “all the way across town” takes a grand total of three minutes. 😊
