CKPS issue fraud warning

The Chatham-Kent Police Service continues to receive calls from citizens who are reporting fraudulent emails and telephone calls from people purporting to be from the Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA).

Police officials say these scams may insist that personal information is needed so that the individual can receive a refund or payment.

They may also use coercive language to scare individuals into paying fictitious debt to the CRA, police say.

Police urge everyone to never provide personal or financial information over the phone, especially if you didn’t initiate the call and never click on links from suspicious emails.
