Is it time to change your approach?

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

I read a quote on social media recently that really grabbed my attention.

It said, “Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.”

I immediately think of the beleaguered, young mother, whose constant needs of her children keep her perpetually exhausted, yet she manages a smile at day’s end as she considers the recipients of her love.

My sister-in-law, Lois, is the proud mother of 12 children.

She now has eight grandchildren, as well.

Most of her kids were born fairly close together, leaving her little time to herself for more than two decades.

Yet, when you ask her about all the sacrifices she has had to make, a wide grin appears across her face.

Being a wife and mother was her ultimate dream since she was a pre-teen.

Mothering this crew of four girls and eight boys has been her passion.

It’s not that she has not had her days when frustration and fatigue got the better of her.

Rather, in the grand scheme of things, the positives have easily outweighed the negatives.

Jesus made a remarkable statement in John 10:10, where He said, “The devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy; but I have come to give you life, and to give it more abundantly.”

So, what are you working hard at these days?

Is it causing you stress or stoking your passion?

The difference might be in your attitude.

That can be remedied quickly by praying and asking the Lord to turn things around for you.

The decision is up to you.
