Frost advisory across Chatham-Kent

A frost advisory is in place across Chatham-Kent.

Forecasters say frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas.

Temperatures have dropped to near or below the freezing mark this morning.

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

CBD Club Star Search Qualifiers

Here are the final qualifiers in the CBD Star Search singing contest: Erin Ferreira, Alan DeLaet, Rose Grey, Bernie Grass, Don ‘Chicken Man’ McLean. Two wild cards were drawn to get in as well. Paul Roesch and Colin Grey (not pictured).

The semi-finals are taking place November 2 and 9, with the finals being held on November 16.

Wallaceburg Chamber Awards this week

The Wallaceburg & District Chamber of Commerce is holding their 21st annual awards event on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 6 p.m.

Chamber officials say this year the nominations were made by a committee who also served as the judging panel.

The nominees for the Chamber Choice Award, which will be given out for the second year in a row, were nominated and voted on exclusively by the community.

This award recognizes the best of the best when it comes to an individual who is dedicated to the Wallaceburg & District area. Nominees exemplify excellence through dedication, community leadership and achievements.

The event, which will be emceed by CKXS, recognizes businesses and individuals in the Wallaceburg and district area.

The Wallaceburg Chamber of Commerce is the host of the awards gala and had no part in choosing the nominees or the winners of this event, Chamber officials say.

“We simply feel this awards presentation is something that should be done annually as there are so many dedicated members of our community that are not recognized for their ongoing devotion to making this a better place to live and work,” Misselbrook added.
