Cannabis & speeding charges laid on the 401

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: On November 22, 2018, around 9:15 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting RADAR enforcement on Highway 401 near Queens Line when they observed a westbound motor vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr.

While speaking with the driver, the officer observed open cans of beer and cannabis inside the vehicle.

As a result, the male driver, a 24-year-old from Windsor, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:

– Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act,

– Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Act 2017,

– Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor readily available, contrary to the Liquor License Act.
