‘Warming Centres’ open at C-K libraries

The extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada for Southern Ontario including all areas in Chatham-Kent will continue for Thursday January 31.

A prolonged period of cold is expected through to Friday morning, with temperatures ranging from -20°C to -27°C with wind chills between -30°C to -40°C.

Conditions are expected to improve by Friday as milder air moves into the region.

All branches of the Chatham-Kent Public Library will once again be open today, Thursday January 3, to provide a warm location for anyone needing to get out of the cold.

Highgate branch, normally closed on Thursdays will now open from noon until 5 p.m.

Extended hours will be offered tomorrow at the following branches:

Merlin: 3 p.m until 8 p.m.

Thamesville: Noon until 5 p.m.

Wallaceburg: 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Wheatley: 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The following branches will be open their regular hours, ready to greet individuals needing a warm location:

Blenheim: Noon until 8 p.m.

Bothwell: 3:00 pm until 8 p.m.

Tilbury: 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Ridgetown: 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Dresden: 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Chatham: 9:30 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Library staff are happy to open the doors again tomorrow to help anyone needing a warm place to go.
