Wallaceburg’s Mark Childs has filed his nomination papers and is running for Chatham-Kent Council, representing Ward 5 – Wallaceburg.
Childs officially filed on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
“After numerous discussions, I have decided to run for a council position in Ward 5,” Childs posted on social media.
“I pledge that if elected, I will do my utmost to represent Wallaceburg in a professional and caring manner, offering full transparency of the goings on in our municipal government. I believe that a representative from Wallaceburg must work well with the other wards to gain respect and cooperation in matters that concern our ward.”
Childs is the eighth candidate to file in Wallaceburg, joining Brendan Authier, Loree Bailey, Steven Burritt, Dave Hyatt, Jason Debuck, Zac Nicholson and Chris Young.
Both of Wallaceburg’s current Councillors, Carmen McGregor and Aaron Hall, have stated publicly they won’t be seeking re-election.
