Westover offering ‘Courage to Change’ program

Special to the Sydenham Current

This program was developed seven years ago by a couple of students from the University of Windsor and a couple members of the Westover Treatment Centre staff.

This program was for in house use for the women in our substance dependent program.

After watching the results from the in house clients, it was felt that this program should be also available in the community.

We were able to run the program for two years from funding from the Chatham Kent Drug Awareness Counsel.

The program was expanded to more areas of our community over the last three years with funding from the Chatham
Kent Women’s Counsel of the Chatham Kent United Way.

We are glad to say that again we have received some funding so we could provide this program again this year.

The program will run in Wallaceburg in March on the 7, 14 and 21 of 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, 719 James St, Wallaceburg.

Please contact Kim Quann 519-692-5110 or kquann@westovertreatmentcentre.ca to register.

The Westover ‘Courage to Change’ program for women 16 years and older is meant to be a practical guide for women working towards healing and recovery.

It is a first step in the process and is meant to encourage the women to go on and seek the help they may need from other community services after completing the program.

Below is a comment from one of our former clients:

“Guilt. Shame. Regret. No more. This program left me feeling free to be ME. Accept what was and move
on! Comfort. Empathy. Strength. Empowered. I received the Courage to Change!”
