Traffic stop leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 8 p.m. last night, an officer on general patrol observed the man driving a van with an expired validation sticker.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned that the man was suspended from driving.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

A 41-year-old Chatham man has been charged with drug possession, driving while under suspension and driving a motor vehicle with no validation on plate.

He was released pending a future court date of May 16, 2019.

Man charged with trespassing

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, an officer on general patrol conducted property checks of the Fifth Street Bridge construction area and Boardwalk Apartments.

At this time, noise was heard coming from the apartments.

Officers flooded the area and located a man inside the building.

The 21-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with trespassing.

An extensive search continued with no one else being found in the building or damage observed.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police received information about a domestic disturbance at an apartment in Tilbury.

Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic abuse between the couple.

The 30-year-old Tilbury man was arrested and charged with five counts of assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Youth charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On October 13, 2018 a youth was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific teenage girl.

Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at Taylor Park in Chatham.

The 16-year-old Chatham youth was arrested for communicating with the girl in the Park.

He has been charged with failing to comply and has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police located a man in Bothwell wanted for taking a motor vehicle without consent from a man known to him and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

The 47-year-old Windsor man was arrested and released pending a future court date of May 15, 2019.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. unknown suspects forced their way into a home on Rosedale Drive causing about $2,500 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole watches, jewelry, sunglasses and a Bose speaker.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $5,000.
