Quinton named as C-K’s new CFO

Chatham-Kent Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire has announced that Gord Quinton has been selected as the municipality’s new General Manager of Finance, Budget and Information Technology Services, CFO and Treasurer.

“Gord is uniquely qualified to step into this key role in municipal government,” Shropshire said in a press release.

“His combination of knowledge, experience and ability ensures that the financial responsibilities of the municipality are in good hands. Gord has continuously displayed extensive knowledge of both our municipal operations and our community. We are most fortunate to have such a qualified and dedicated colleague as our next CFO.”

Quinton, who will assume his duties September 3, is replacing current General Manager Mike Turner who will be retiring September 20.

Quinton has served in municipal government since 1995 when he was employed as Supervisor – Customer and Finance Systems with the Ridgetown PUC.

He has worked for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent since 1998, serving in progressively more demanding positions, including the Director of Finance and Treasurer and the Director of Budget and Performance Services.

In addition to his professional experience Quinton brings to his new role an Honours BA, Economics, and CPA (CGA) Accounting designation and an MBA.

Municipal officials say he is originally from the Ridgetown area of Chatham-Kent and has a great understanding of the community and the improving financial state of Chatham-Kent.

He is married to his wife Christine and they have two children.

“I appreciate the opportunity to further serve the residents of Chatham-Kent and Council as the next CFO for the Municipality,” Quintion said in a media release.

“Financial sustainability, transparent balanced budgets and continued growth will be high priorities. I would like to thank my predecessor Mike Turner for his mentorship and dedication to Chatham-Kent.”
