Woman charged with assault with a weapon

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early Monday morning, a verbal argument began between a woman and her common-law husband while at their residence in Chatham.

The incident escalated into a physical altercation as the woman struck the man in the face with an item made of glass.

She then exited the residence and damaged his truck with a chair.

The man subsequently attended the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.

The 25-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and mischief under $5,000.

She was transported to the Courthouse for a bail hearing and released pending a future court date of June 25, 2019.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, an officer on general patrol initiated a traffic stop on McNaughton Avenue near Sandys Street in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman was suspended from driving for unpaid fines.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the woman was found to be in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

A 26-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with driving while under suspension and two counts of drug possession.

She was released pending a future court date of June 27, 2019.

Her vehicle was also towed from the scene and impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment program.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Dresden.

Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

The 50-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with forcible confinement and five counts of assault.

He was transported to police headquarters and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman assaulted her common-law husband over the weekend.

The 25-year-old Thamesville woman was arrested and charged with assault.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around noon yesterday, police located a man wanted for failing to attend the Courthouse for his fingerprints last month.

A 62-year-old Shrewsbury man was arrested and charged.

He was released pending a future court date of June 21, 2019.
