International Overdose Awareness Day

To recognize International Overdose Awareness Day, CK Public Health, in partnership with the Chatham-Kent Drug Awareness Council, have planned events for Thursday, August 29th at Studio One in the Chatham Cultural Centre, 75 William Street North, Chatham.

There will be two free, walk-in overdose response training sessions at Studio One at 1:00pm and 2:00pm. Permanent injury and death from an overdose is preventable, come out and learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of an overdose and how to respond. All participants will receive a free naloxone kit as part of their training. No ID, Health Card, or appointment is required. Simply show up!

A memorial event will follow that evening, to be held at Studio One beginning at 7:00pm. The memorial will be in memory of those who have lost their lives due to an overdose, in support of the countless families in mourning across Canada and around the world, and in solidarity and strength for those living with and recovering from an addiction.

Light refreshments will be available at each event.

Please find a poster attached with more details about the events planned for Thursday, August 29th.
