Man and woman charged with possession of drugs

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday at 4 p.m., members of the Community Patrol Branch and Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) executed a drug warrant at a residence on Florence Street in Chatham.

Officers located quantities of various drugs including suspected fentanyl, heroin, hydromorphone, methamphetamine and other prescription medication, valued at $2,000.

Canadian currency was also seized along with digital scales and packaging materials.

The 28-year-old Chatham man and the 36-year-old Chatham woman were arrested and charged with the following offences contrary to the Drugs and Substances Act:

– Possession of fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking

– Possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking

– Possession of hydromorphone for the purposes of trafficking

– Possession of methamphetamine for the purposes of trafficking

Both were transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters and released with a future Court date.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Throughout the day yesterday, officers designated to the Community Patrol Branch conducted traffic enforcement specifically within the areas of Blenheim, Ridgetown and Erieau.

Multiple tickets were issued to drivers for speeding.

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: During the night and into the early morning, officers designated to the Community Patrol Branch conducted RIDE checks throughout the entire Municipality.

As a result, 600 vehicles were stopped, numerous tickets issued and one impaired driver arrested and charged.

Last night at 11:30 p.m. a man was stopped at a RIDE check.

The officer believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol and a roadside test was administered.

As a result, the man was arrested and transported to CKPS Headquarters for breath tests.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released with a future court date.
