New physicians join CKHA

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is pleased to announce the addition of new physicians to the organization. Dr. Jonathan Fairbairn joins CKHA in the role of Psychiatrist, Dr. Manna Adegbite joins in the role of Paediatrician and Drs. Sandra Gregorovich and Garvey Chilopora join CKHA as Obstetricians/Gynaecologists (OB/GYN).

“Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is thrilled to welcome Doctors Fairbairn, Adegbite, Gregorovich and Chilopora to our organization and community,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, Chief of Staff, CKHA. “Their specialized skill and knowledge will be great additions to our clinical teams in the departments of Psychiatry, Paediatrics and Obstetrics/Gynaecology.”

Dr. Jonathan Fairbairn

Dr. Jonathan Fairbairn grew up in Chatham and attended Western University in London for his undergraduate studies. He earned an Honours Bachelor of Medical Science (BMSc Hons) in Pharmacology and made the Dean’s Honour List for excellence in academic performance. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine in 2014 from Western University. Dr. Fairbairn completed his Psychiatry Residency at Queen’s University in Kingston from 2014 to 2019. During his Residency training, Dr. Fairbairn participated in various leadership, teaching and administrative roles, earning the Outstanding Contribution to Residency Training Award from Queen’s University. From 2016 – 2017 he held the role of Chief Resident, serving in a key leadership position at Queen’s University.

“I look forward to joining CKHA’s team and providing high quality and compassionate patient care. Since starting my medical training, I always knew that one day I wanted to return to serve my home community. I am grateful to have the opportunity to fulfill this long-term aspiration,” said Dr. Fairbairn. “After having experienced living elsewhere, I’ve come to especially appreciate the kindness and generosity of the people of Chatham-Kent. I look forward to giving back to the community which has provided so much, and has had such a large influence on me.”

Dr. Manna Adegbite

Dr. Manna Adegbite earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria in 1994. She then attended the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (L.U.T.H) and completed a Rotating Internship in 1995. Dr. Adegbite did her Residency training in Primary Care Paediatrics at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2000 and received specialty training through a Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at the University of Saskatchewan in 2006. With 18 years of paediatric experience, Dr. Adegbite has extensive practice in both inpatient and outpatient paediatric care of children and adolescents ages 0 to 17 years. As a consulting Paediatrician at Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqaluit, Nunavut she attended to high-risk deliveries and managed all high acuity emergent paediatric cases including resuscitation and stabilization for transport. At the St. Laurent Medical Centre in Ottawa, she provided care to children with medical and mental health conditions as a consulting Paediatrician.

“After spending time as a Locum Physician at CKHA years ago, I knew it would be the right fit for me to come back and locate permanently in Chatham-Kent with my family,” said Dr. Adegbite. “I enjoy the community-feel of the hospital, its modern facilities and professional staff. I have felt very welcomed since arriving here.”

Dr. Adegbite is now accepting patient referrals and is located at the Chatham-Kent Child and Adolescent Clinic, 202 King St. West in Chatham. The office can be reached by phone at 519.358.1880 and by fax at 519.358.1586.

Dr. Sandra Gregorovich

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Dr. Sandra Gregorovich obtained her Doctor of Medicine from Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1990. After completing 5 years of Residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, she worked as a Generalist OB/GYN for 10 years until immigrating to Canada with her husband and two sons in 2004. In Toronto she completed a one year course in Clinical Research which allowed her to work for two years as a Research Assistant/Coordinator for the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McMaster University in Hamilton. She then went on to train as a Resident in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at McMaster University from 2011 to 2016. Following her Residency, she completed a two year Fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Western University, London in June 2019. Dr. Gregorovich will be taking the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada exam in September 2019 to obtain her subspecialty in Maternal Fetal Medicine.

“I instantly knew CKHA and the community of Chatham-Kent would be the right choice for me from the warm welcome I received,” said Dr. Gregorovich. “I enjoy the sense of community in the hospital and have loved getting to know the patients.”

Dr. Gregorovich’s office is temporarily located at CKHA’s Chatham Site on the Women and Children’s Program floor, Zone B, Level 3. Her permanent office opens on November 1, 2019 and will be located at 20 Emma Street, Building B. All new patient referrals can be sent by fax to 519.355.0239.

Dr. Garvey Chilopora

Dr. Garvey Chilopora earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2001 from the University of Malawi, College of Medicine in Malawi and received his Residency training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in 2009. Following that he completed a Fellowship from the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa in 2009 with an additional subspecialty Fellowship in Maternal and Fetal Medicine with special interest in high risk Obstetrics in 2012. Dr. Chilopora also completed certification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has spent the past seven years practicing general Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Newfoundland.

“Chatham-Kent seemed like the ideal place to re-locate with my family with its warmer climate and close proximity to major centres,” said Dr. Chilopora. “I’ve been welcomed with warmth and hospitality since arriving at CKHA. I’m looking forward to settling into the community.”

Dr. Chilopora is accepting patient referrals by fax at 519.351.5712 and is seeing patients in his clinic at CKHA on Tuesdays and Thursdays until October 31, 2019. As of November 1, 2019, his office will be located at 41 Grand Avenue West in Chatham and clinic patients will be seen at this location. His interim office phone number is 226.626.4841.
