Climate Strike Set for CK

Building on the movement started by Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, local group Climate Action CK announces that they will be organizing and participating in a family-friendly demonstration set for Saturday, September 21, from 12-2pm, at the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre.
Similar events are set across the world during the week of Sep. 20-27, to drive awareness of the ever-worsening climate crisis. This event will be no different, and members of the local community are encouraged to take part and express both their thanks to the Mayor and Council of Chatham-Kent for declaring a climate emergency, but also to call on members and leaders of the provincial and federal governments to do more in the face of this crisis.

“Climate change will affect each and every one of us, and not for the better”, said Robert Girard of Climate Action CK, “and as citizens of a representative democracy, we must collectively make our voice heard that we want to see our elected representatives doing their jobs, and treating the issue with the urgency it deserves”.

About Climate Action CK:
