Police: LCBO theft, fraud, vehicle stolen

Woman charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, the woman was observed entering a parked vehicle on Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg and stealing a pair of sunglasses and loose change.

The 34-year-old Walpole Island woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

She was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with fraud related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last month, the man attempted to cash a fraudulent cheque in Chatham.

As the man was denied the cash, he fled on foot and police were called.

Through investigation, police identified the man responsible.

Yesterday afternoon, police located the man in downtown Chatham.

A 23-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with fraud related offences.

He was released pending a future court date of October 2, 2019.

Woman charged with assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the woman assaulted her common-law boyfriend during a verbal argument.

The 36-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with assault.

She was released pending a future court date of October 9, 2019.

Executed warrants

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police arrested a woman wanted for failing to attend court this summer.

The 43-year-old Chatham woman was transported to the Courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a man wanted in connection with a shoplifting complaint earlier this year at the LCBO on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

A 25-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of October 16, 2019.

Stolen vehicle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime yesterday between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. unknown suspects stole a 2015 light copper coloured Hyundai Elantra from a parking lot on Courthouse Lane.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates CKFV 996.
