The final South Kent Town Hall meeting of the year will be held Tuesday November Nov. 5 at 7 pm at North Buxton Museum.
The town hall meetings were developed by councillors Anthony Ceccacci, Mary Clare Latimer and Trevor Thompson as a way of meeting with ward residents in an informal manner.
“We all enjoy being able to talk to residents about whatever is on their mind,” said Coun. Latimer. “The process of appearing before council is, out of necessity, a formal one. This doesn’t have to be.”
Previous town halls were held in February, May and August.
Coun. Thompson said online interaction is valuable but the town hall meetings bring another dimension for discussion of local issues.
Coun. Ceccacci said face-to-face interaction allows for a free flowing dialogue. “Someone can make a point and then another person can add their ideas in a more personal way than online commenting allows.”
Coun. Latimer said attendance has steadily increased with some 60 people attending the August session.
