Unsafe road conditions prompt brief Highway 402 closure in Lambton County

Highway 402 westbound was temporarily closed in Lambton County due to unsafe road conditions before later reopening the same day.

The Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded shortly after 4:30 p.m. on July 1, 2026, to reports of unsafe conditions on the westbound lanes of Highway 402 near Plympton-Wyoming.

As a result, the highway was closed between Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin Road.

Police later confirmed the closure was lifted and the highway has since reopened.

Lambton OPP thanked the public for its patience and cooperation during the disruption.
