Up to 90 km/h winds expected on Wednesday

A special weather statement has been issued in Chatham-Kent, as strong southwesterly wind gusts are expected Wednesday.

“Strong southwesterly winds gusting 70 to 80 km/h are expected to develop late Wednesday morning or early Wednesday afternoon and persist into the evening,” forecasters say.

“There is also the possibility of stronger wind gusts near 90 km/h in the afternoon.”

Winds will slowly ease Wednesday evening, Environment Canada officials stated.

“Strong winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Power outages are also possible,” forecasters say.
