The third annual Downtown Dresden Christmas Night Market took place outside on Main Street from St. George Street to Water Street, and on Tecumseh Street in Dresden on Dec. 14th from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Thank you to everyone who was a part of this year’s Dresden Christmas Night Market,” Moréna McDonald, the event organizer, said on social media.

“This was one of the biggest events I’ve planned so far, and we definitely couldn’t do it without friends, family, and a community that is full of support and encouragement.”

The Christmas event was highlighted with Christmas lights that transformed Dresden into a Christmas wonderland.

There were more than 70 vendors lining the streets, along with local businesses that remained open late.

The Downtown Dresden Christmas Night Market featured an ice carver and pony rides by TJ Stables, along with horse and wagon rides which were sponsored by Cascades Casino and North Kent Mutual.

Felesha Brutus, of the Phat Canuck, told the Sydenham Current she was thrilld to take part in the market.

“My business is dealing in ketogenic and diabetic foods,” Brutus said.

“I am local to Dresden, I have a business in the Dresden area at a commercial kitchen. I sell most of my product to other stores; but when they have the Dresden Night Market, it gives me the opportunity to take my wares out onto the street, and meet other people, and meet my customers who visit stores and buy my product.”

Brutus added: “The Market was a blessing because I’ve been able to meet people that buy my product, and I get to hear their stories about how my product has helped to improve their life; whether it’s a type 1 diabetic who can now eat ice cream without spiking their blood sugar, to someone who has become a diabetic, and whose only craving is wanting ice cream or some sweets. They can have that with my food. I’ve met people too, who tell me that they love that my food has no aftertaste.”

Hot chocolate was sold on St. George Street with all proceeds from that sale going to the Dresden Splash Pad.

The Pop Up Holiday Bar served various beer from five local breweries, with Sod Buster Brewing Company also serving local mulled wine.

Food trucks were set up along Tecumseh Street beside the Holiday Pop Up Bar.

The Dresden Sidestreets Youth Centre sold 50/50 tickets for $5 each.

Laura Davidson-Emms was the winner of this events draw.
