Police investigating report of a suspicious man

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, an unknown man driving a silver four-door car, rolled down his window and asked a 17-year-old female walking on McNaughton Avenue near Cedarwoods Crescent in Chatham if she wanted a ride.

The teen replied no and the man drove away.

The man was wearing dark square shaped sunglasses, was approximately 30-40 years old and the vehicle had dark tinted windows.

Disturbance leads to charges in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday afternoon, police responded to a disturbance at St. Joseph’s Auditorium between two men known to each other.

Through investigation, police learned that a 51-year-old Chatham man brandished a knife and directed it towards another man while also throwing a cup of hot coffee at him.

When the man went to secure the knife back in his pocket he accidentally cut himself.

Officers located the man a short distance away and he was taken into custody.

The man was transported to the hospital for medical attention.

He was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and released pending a future court date of January 3, 2020.

Collision leads to impaired charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, just before 10 a.m. police received information about a possible impaired driver who just struck a fence on Albert Street in Wallaceburg.

Officers located the vehicle and through investigation believed the man was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and transported to police headquarters for breath tests.

A 20-year-old Walpole Island man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

He was released pending a future court date of January 3, 2020.

Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Real Canadian Superstore in Chatham.

A 51-year-old Chatham man was located a short distance away and taken into custody.

He was charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of January 3, 2020.

Man arrested on outstanding warrant

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police located a man on Adelaide Street in Chatham who was wanted by Windsor Police.

The 31-year-old man was arrested and turned over to officers from Windsor for court purposes.

Mischief to vehicles in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspects smashed the windows to six vehicles that were parked at VIA Rail on Queen Street.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 14 a local male was located walking on McNaughton Ave in Wallaceburg, in breach of his curfew condition.

He was arrested and held for bail.

MVC in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 14 a driver struck two parked vehicles on Chippewa Crescent and then struck house on Tanser Court.

Two occupants were initially in vehicle but one fled the area while the other remained for police.

A local male was arrested for Dangerous operation and lodged in cells pending further investigation.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 14 the CKPS made a well-being check at a local address and located a local male who was wanted on a Provincial Offences warrant.

He was released with a future court date.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 14 a local male was located with a female he was on conditions not to be around.

He was subsequently arrested and held for bail.

The female that he was with was arrested and charged with being party to an offence by allowing the contact between the two.

Break, enter and theft in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 14 unknown suspects entered an unlocked shed and removed a small hatchet valued at $30.

Disturb the peace in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On December 14 a local male was running in and out of traffic, creating a hazard and unable to care for himself and was arrested for breach of the peace.

Mischief in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A local male was arrested on grounds for mischief and trespass to property act.

He was later released with a future court date.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A local residence is currently under renovations and the owners attended this date they noted the door to be wide open and several items including tools to be missing.

Upon reviewing their surveillance video an unknown suspect dressed in dark clothes attended the residence twice around 11:30 a.m. and both times leave pushing a large garbage can across the road to another address.

Officers attended to speak to the tenants of the suspect house when they observed through the front window some of the stolen items however no one would answer the door.

Two officers secured the house while attempts were made to locate the residence owner who eventually turned over the property to police without incident.

Female arrested on warrant.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday morning a 42-year-old woman from Thamesville was located In Chatham wanted on a warrant for Breaching her court conditions.

The woman was arrested and held for a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: In June of 2019, a 24-year-old woman was arrested and charged for theft and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

The woman was later released with a future court date.

The woman later failed to attend her court date, there for a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Yesterday the woman was located in Chatham and arrested on the strength of the warrant.

She was held for a bail hearing.

Break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime on Wednesday or Thursday unknown suspects entered a garage on Marsh Line in Wallaceburg.

Taken from the garage was various tools and an unknown amount of gasoline.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Thursday night while on general patrol, police located and arrested a Chatham male for failing to attend his court date.

The 35-year-old Chatham man has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
