Rood named Deputy Shadow Minister for Agriculture

The MP in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex has been given a new appointment.

Lianne Rood was appointed Deputy Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Agri-Food as part of the Conservative Shadow Cabinet.

“I am honoured to be appointed as Deputy Shadow Minister of Agriculture & Agri-Food, and I’m humbled to stand for and be the voice of farmers in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex and across Canada by holding the Liberal government to account,” Rood stated in a media release.

The appointment was announced on December 20, 2019.

Growing up on a 1,000 acre vegetable farm in Grand Bend, Ontario, Rood has a long-standing passion for farming and fighting for farmers, officials from her office stated.

“As a farmer with a background in small business, Lianne has a first-hand understanding of the challenges farmers face,” the media release stated.

“Having worked for Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz assisting in the developing and passing of the Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act, Lianne demonstrated her commitment to bring concrete political solutions on behalf of farmers.”

Rood will serve in her new role alongside John Barlow, the Shadow Minister of Agriculture & Agri-Food.
