Wallaceburg Councillors holding regular community chats

Wallaceburg Councillors Carmen McGregor and Aaron Hall are inviting the public to chat with them ahead of next week’s Chatham-Kent Council meeting.

McGregor and Hall are set to be at Country Style in Wallaceburg on Friday morning, January 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The pair will be discussing the agenda for their January 13, 2020 Council meeting. The agenda can be read, here.

The two Wallaceburg politicians have been holding these meetings since the election in October of 2018.

Hall said they both believe it is important to engage with the community.

“Councillor McGregor and I both feel it is essential to be available and accessible to the residents in Wallaceburg,” Hall told the Sydenham Current.

“We have these open, community chats usually on the Friday before a scheduled Council meeting. It gives people the opportunity to ask us questions about different reports on the agenda and to express their concerns as well.”

Hall added people will often ask other questions or raise issues about varying topics, not necessarily related to the agenda.

“We want to give people the opportunity to come chat with us face-to-face, to ensure their concerns are heard,” Hall said.

“Holding these meetings have been an excellent way for us to ensure we have a finger on the pulse of the community.”

McGregor said there are some other upcoming opportunities for public input.

“Aaron and I will also be heading into the 2020 Budget Session in January,” McGregor posted on social media.

“Wallaceburg meeting on January 22nd along with the Neighborhood Watch on January 16th to talk about community safety. Please reach out to us if you would like more information.”

Hall is currently serving his first term on Chatham-Kent Council, while McGregor is in her second term.
