OPP officials allege: Chatham Kent OPP received information that a suspect wanted by another police service was on the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Chatham.
Officers located the suspect and attempted to take him into custody.
The suspect fled the scene and a short, low-speed pursuit ensued.
Police brought the suspect to a stop, at which time the suspect rammed two OPP cruisers, causing moderate damage.
The suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and Moraviantown Police Service (EELÜNAAPÉEWI LAHKÉEWIIT Delaware Nation).
One officer sustained minor injuries during the incident and was treated at the scene.
The westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Chatham was closed for approximately two hours to facilitate the investigation, which remains ongoing.
