State of Emergency: Work begins on Erie Shore Drive

Crews began repair work on Erie Shore Drive on Monday morning, March 9.

The thoroughfare from Erieau Road to 18416 Erie Shore Drive is now closed, Municipal officials say.

The municipality is also working on a contingency plan for Erieau and area as part of its emergency preparedness measures, therefore residents may begin to see increased activity (including presence of utilities vehicles) in the area.

“The municipality wished to thank residents of Erie Shore Drive for their cooperation in evacuating the area as well as individual members of the community and businesses that provided help in numerous ways since the state of emergency was declared February 28,” Municipal officials said in a media release on Monday.

Residents seeking information on how the Erie Shore Road dike emergency may affect them should call the municipality of Chatham-Kent at 519-360-1998.
