Police encourage people to stay home for St. Patrick’s Day

The Chatham-Kent Police Service will be “out in full force tonight” for St. Patrick’s Day. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they are encouraging people to celebrate at home.

“For those celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, please don’t let ‘green beer’ cloud your judgment when it comes to driving home,” police officials said in a media release.

“With #SocialDistancing practices in effect, it may be best to celebrate at home this year. Stay home and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Be the lucky and healthy one this St. Patrick’s Day.”

Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby has implemented increased measures to combat COVID-19. Details, here.

The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared COVID-19 as a pandemic on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Details, here.
