Playground equipment closed at LKDSB schools

The Lambton-Kent District School Board has closed all playground equipment at all schools, due to COVID-19 concerns.

“In an attempt to curb the spread of the virus and to protect public health, the Lambton Kent District School Board is requesting that members of the public avoid using any of our school playground equipment,” school board officials stated.

“This remains in effect during the Ontario Minister of Education ordered COVID-19 school closures. Equipment cannot be properly sanitized at this time.”

Municipality of Chatham-Kent officials are also discouraging group activities at local parks.

“Dr. Colby stated that as long as people practice social distancing there is no reason not to go outside or use parks for walking or singular activities,” Municipal officials posted on social media.

“Just don’t plan any type of group activities at parks or public places.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared COVID-19 as a pandemic on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Details, here.
