Impaired driving charges laid in Chatham-Kent

Chatham-Kent OPP officials allege: On Thursday April 2, 2020 at approximately 11:58 p.m. members of the Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver on Maynard Line within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The driver was believed to be impaired by drug or alcohol and was arrested.

Police have charged the driver a 33-year-old Chatham-Kent man with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

– Operation while impaired by alcohol contrary to Section 320.14(1)(a)

– Failure or Refusal to comply with demand Section 320.15(1)

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 22, 2020 in Chatham.
