Woman charged with stunt driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer with the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Wheatley Road at a high rate of speed.

The officer recorded the woman driving 132 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The 27-year-old Belle River woman was charged with stunt driving.

Her driver’s license has been suspended for seven days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

She will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on July 29, 2020.

Stolen truck in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime overnight, unknown suspects stole a red 2011 Ford F-150 pick-up truck from a residence on Grand Avenue East.

The truck was last seen bearing Ontario license plates AP70785 and has a white Philadelphia Flyers decal in the rear window.

Collision in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand Avenue near Vanier Drive in Chatham.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $8,000.

A 43-year-old Chatham man was charged with careless driving.

Man charged with obstruct police

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 7 a.m. yesterday morning, police responded to the report of a suspicious man on Thames Street in Chatham.

Officers located the man who appeared to be in medical distress.

Paramedics transported the man to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.

The man verbally identified himself to police, however through investigation, officers confirmed his true identity and learned that he was currently bound by a house arrest condition in Windsor.

Once medically cleared, the 33-year-old man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions and obstruct police. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with domestic related offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 10, 2020 a man was released from custody with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific Wallaceburg woman or attend her home.

Yesterday afternoon, the man entered the woman’s home through an unlocked door, attempting to talk to the woman who remained hidden in a bedroom until police arrived.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was also wanted for similar offences from earlier this week.

The 32-year-old Walpole Island man was arrested and charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling house and four counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
