Lake Erie Shoreline Study now available online

The Chatham-Kent Lake Erie Shoreline Study is now available online for public viewing.

Supported by the Natural Resources Canada’s Climate Change Adaptation Program, this study explores the influence of climate change on future coastal hazards due to changes in storms and ice cover and the associated challenges for the coastal communities of Chatham-Kent, Municipal officials said in a press release.

The Municipality, along with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority, researchers from Zuzek Inc., and the University of Waterloo collaborated on the study.

The goal of the study is to increase the resilience of the Chatham-Kent community through the development of short and long-term solutions to the existing coastal hazards and associated challenges, Municipal officials say.

The resulting report dated April 23, 2020 is now available for review in both low resolution and high resolution at the following:

The report will also be presented to Chatham-Kent Council at the May 4, 2020 council meeting.
